The association founded in 1889 is called "Verein Beethoven-Haus" (Beethoven-Haus Association). By royal decree, it was granted the rights of a legal entity on May 20, 1896. The association is a non-profit organization serving the public good, and due to its statutory promotion of science and research, art, culture, monument conservation and preservation, it is exempt from corporate and trade taxes with the exception of its economic business operation. The Beethoven-Haus Bonn association is seated in the city of Bonn and supervised by the Cologne district government.

Technical requirements:
The website of the Beethoven-Haus was developed using the SixCMS publishing system and is largely compatible with the HTML 4.01 und CSS 2 standards. It has not been optimized for a particular computer, browser or operating system. All the pages can be viewed at a screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels and also on large screens. There are deviations from the standard in some places in order to support old and current versions of the most widely used browsers, Internet Explorer/Edge and Firefox.
You will obtain the best results if your browser supports style sheets and JavaScript. But even without this, you can view the entire content and use all functions. To order items from the online shop, your browser must be set to accept cookies, and it must also support the secure HTTPS protocol.
For your entertainment, we offer a variety of media for which you need special software. The programs can be obtained free of charge, for example RealPlayer to watch the video on Beethoven's life, and Adobe Flash Player to view the internet exhibition.
